2 facets joined
It’s working! My improvised piecing combined with pattern piecing is working really well.
Add some sparkle to the rags
I sewed some sequin film to the painting rags today - it works!
Random piecing is (hopefully) the winner
Today I tried cutting random shapes from the painting rags and stitching them together.
Green painting rag
While working on the background for ‘Male’ I’m making a lovely green painting rag to use in my fabric diamond ‘Need’.
2 ideas to speed it up
After reading lots of quilting blogs my mind continues to expand with ideas. These two are going to help me get this artwork done.
The different joining method
I’ve tried a different way of joining the pieces together - I’m not using a backing fabric to stitch them onto.
Cutting the diamond pieces
I’ve been using the same painting rag for a few pattern pieces on each facet. This is how I make the cutting process a little faster.
This ‘mistake’ could work out better
This facet of my diamond ‘Need’ was going so well until I made a big mistake. But it might just turn out better now, who knows?
Facet #4 finished
Wonky cutting, wonky sewing, steam iron…but this diamond facet still looks fab. I can work with this, no worries!
Sewing corner is functional!
I’ve moved furniture and stuff, stuff, stuff around again and now I have a functioning sewing corner in the studio!
The sewing tips work
A friend gave me some sewing hacks to try and they’re awesome! I’ll get these facets stitched even faster now!
Faster facets
It works! The idea I had yesterday regarding a quicker method of piecing the painting rags onto the pattern is very efficient and effective.
1 facet finished, 32 to go!
Yesterday I added the leftover paint, paint water and rag to the other paint rag containers.
Today I used the latest dried rag and added it to the first facet of my fabric diamond 'Need'.
The first facet
I began cutting and sewing the rags onto one facet of the diamond pattern.
The big diamond is pinned
I didn’t have long in the studio today but I had enough time to finish pinning the pattern pieces of the ‘Need’ diamond to the wall.
Sneaky ironing
I had a long Zoom meeting tonight when I was meant to be art making. I turned off the camera and microphone did some sneaky ironing! All the paint rags are pressed and ready to be used!
