2 ideas to speed it up

While I’ve been having a physical rest from making art the past few days my mind continues to expand with ideas. Particularly because I’ve been spending my rest time looking at quilting blogs! (I know how to have a good time!)

From what I’ve learnt from my research I’m going to try:

  1. Notches on pattern pieces. After I have drawn the shapes on the facet, before I cut the pieces out I will draw small lines between each piece that joins. When I’m back in the studio I’ll show you an example. Anyone who sews is probably rolling their eyes reading this. Of course Lucy! You haven’t been doing this already?? But hey, I got there!

  2. Glue the pattern pieces onto the paint rags before I cut them. Then they wont move as I cut the pattern pieces out of the rag. I will also have an easy line to follow when I’m stitching the pieces together. And the notches will be on them so I can line the pieces up without fuss! I may or may not pull the pattern pieces off once the painting rags are stitched together, I’ll see how it goes.

I’m looking forward to trying these two ideas out when I get back into the studio in a few days.
