Image solution for text only blog posts
I've been playing around in Canva, making a template to use as a 'featured image' on my blog for blog posts without an image or video. This is what I came up with!
Redo the ‘world’?
I have an opportunity to retake the 360 degrees photo that I use to make the ‘world’ the gold kangaroo is in. The ‘world’ (HDRI file) surrounding the kangaroo forms the reflection in the gold.
The first facet
I began cutting and sewing the rags onto one facet of the diamond pattern.
It’s gold time!
I’m not sure if the layer is too light or not, but it is better to paint it too light then to be too heavy. I can always add another layer later if it’s needed.
Brown detail done
I pushed through the resistance (I didn’t feel like doing it but I made myself to do it anyway) and finished the fiddly last brown details! Enjoy the video!
Setting up for sewing
I’ve spent a few hours today reorganising the studio furniture so that I can fit the sewing machine in. I’m ready to jump into sewing this diamond!
Around in circles
I’ve been working on my blog formatting today. It should be so simple, alas it never seems to be for me. No worries, I’ll keep trying or find another way to get it looking and working the way I’d like it to work.
Is it reflective enough?
I have bought two pieces of sequin foil - one silver and one gold. I’m going to experiment with these within my diamonds.
Drawing a guide for the diamond facets
This is how I’ve used the printed reference images to give me a rough idea of the shapes within the diamond facets.
It just keeps getting bigger
Old painting, new idea. It’s time to revisit the mirrored shapes within the diamonds.
The big diamond is pinned
I didn’t have long in the studio today but I had enough time to finish pinning the pattern pieces of the ‘Need’ diamond to the wall.
Sneaky ironing
I had a long Zoom meeting tonight when I was meant to be art making. I turned off the camera and microphone did some sneaky ironing! All the paint rags are pressed and ready to be used!
‘Need’ is big
I have figured out a much easier way to make the diamond shape out of the painting rags.
