Very angry face
Oh dear! This is my very angry face! Look out gold kangaroo, Lucy has her glaring eyes on!
Preparing for glamour shot #2
It’s time to redo the background ‘world’ for ‘Young & Free’. Remember that artwork I was working on? It’s not gone, it’s not forgotten.
Why am I an artist?
I’d be doing all of these things whether I officially called myself ‘artist’ or not.
‘Need’ diamond display breakthrough!
Self-adhesive foam core board - BOOM! Look how good this looks!
Add some sparkle to the rags
I sewed some sequin film to the painting rags today - it works!
The fabric selection
These stripy men’s shirts will become my recycled fabric diamond. If you’d like to make a recycled fabric diamond with me, I’ll tell you the plan soon.
A question for you
I don’t want to stop at my ‘Need’ diamond. There is so much more to explore with textile waste, value, beauty and action.
Silicone mould - mind BLOWN
What if I made my own frames out of found materials (like cardboard, plastic, etc.) and then made a silicone mould of it? Then I can cast it in (I don’t know what yet), then spray it gold!
‘Need’ might need a setting
I’m investigating different methods of presenting ‘Need’. Should I ‘set’ the diamond in either a claw or bezel setting, or both?
Let the ideas roll
Sometimes it’s difficult having a full life + being an artist. Difficult, but I’m so grateful.
Random piecing is (hopefully) the winner
Today I tried cutting random shapes from the painting rags and stitching them together.
Self-imposed rules & regulations (again)
The self-imposed rules and restrictions are creeping back! I realise now this happens with every artwork I make.
