Trying to break the ‘self-imposed’ rules
I tried a different sewing technique with the shapes within the diamond facet.
1 facet finished, 32 to go!
Yesterday I added the leftover paint, paint water and rag to the other paint rag containers.
Today I used the latest dried rag and added it to the first facet of my fabric diamond 'Need'.
The first facet
I began cutting and sewing the rags onto one facet of the diamond pattern.
Setting up for sewing
I’ve spent a few hours today reorganising the studio furniture so that I can fit the sewing machine in. I’m ready to jump into sewing this diamond!
Drawing a guide for the diamond facets
This is how I’ve used the printed reference images to give me a rough idea of the shapes within the diamond facets.
The big diamond is pinned
I didn’t have long in the studio today but I had enough time to finish pinning the pattern pieces of the ‘Need’ diamond to the wall.
Sneaky ironing
I had a long Zoom meeting tonight when I was meant to be art making. I turned off the camera and microphone did some sneaky ironing! All the paint rags are pressed and ready to be used!
‘Need’ is big
I have figured out a much easier way to make the diamond shape out of the painting rags.
More ideas on ‘Need’
How would using different fabric scraps (and where they are from) change the meaning of the artwork?
