More ideas on ‘Need’

What if I used leftover bridal fabric as my painting rags? How well will the acrylic paint adhere to various silks compared to polyester or cotton? What if the fabric is beaded and sequinned, or lace? How would the light reflect off the different textures and fibres?

I know several bridal couturiers and dressmakers who might give me their fabric scraps that would otherwise go in the bin. I will ask them if I can use some and experiment.

How would these different fabric scraps (and where they are from) change the meaning of the artwork? Especially if I make the diamond into a round, ‘brilliant’ cut diamond shape? This type of diamond is often used in a classic solitaire engagement ring.

I intend to use only leftover fabric scraps for this artwork, whether it is ripped old bedsheets used as painting rags or beaded lace used as painting rags. There is so much excess fabric out there, I’d love to use at least some of it to bring a little more beauty and intrigue to the world.
