Why the claws?
It’s time to answer another question I posed to myself:
Why do the (jewellery) claws attaching the diamonds to the kangaroo and gloves look like animal claws?
My hope is that the claws will subtly help to make the kangaroo look like a solid gold kangaroo encrusted with ‘real’ diamonds. Similar to jewellery, but at a massive scale.
The claws are meant to be sinister, yet delicate. They hold the diamonds in place in a threatening manner. I want them to look like if they squeezed any tighter they would pierce the diamonds. I hope they allude to something ‘animalistic’ in the nature of this character, not just it being a powerful animal in its own right. There is a ‘threat’ to this character, perceived or real.
Perhaps if the claws weren’t there, these ‘important bits’ to the kangaroo (eyes, claws, genitals, boxing gloves) would ‘fall off’. Oh dear.
