Ways to loosen it up

I’m thinking of new work. And ‘Young & Free’, the gold kangaroo. I am worried that this painting has a lot of potential to become very ‘tight’. I’m trying to think of ways to loosen it up before I begin.

Making a smaller practice painting will help. It think working on a non-vertical surface will also help. Painting fine lines and drawing with dip pens on canvas is a lot easier when the surface is on an angle or flat on a table or the floor. I would like to incorporate more painted fine lines in this painting then pencil like in ‘Bloom’.

I can’t wait to do the painting rather than just think about it!
