Green painting rag
While working on the background for ‘Male’ I’m making a lovely green painting rag to use in my fabric diamond ‘Need’.
Down an oily rabbit hole
While thinking through other ways to paint the background differently for ‘Young & Free’ I went down an oil painting rabbit hole.
Bonus white and yellow
I’ve added white on the sides of the nose and one more layer of Indian Yellow Hue over the kangaroo to deepen the colour.
A little more drawing adds ‘oomph’
I’ve been over my painting ‘Male’ with the dip pen and Raw Umber to add more detail. Looks great!
The diamond eyes
The diamond eyes are painted! Next up is applying the mirrored shards to the diamonds. But how Lucy? Ummm, I’m not sure yet. It’s time to experiment!
The diamond eyes are almost complete
The final touches of colour on the diamond eyes is complete. Now they just need some highlights and some drawing.
More yellow - it’s almost gold!
I’ve just finished the Indian Yellow Hue layer. The last planned layer is Quinacridone/Nickel Azo Gold.
1 facet finished, 32 to go!
Yesterday I added the leftover paint, paint water and rag to the other paint rag containers.
Today I used the latest dried rag and added it to the first facet of my fabric diamond 'Need'.
Dairylide yellow
The kangaroo is almost gold. This layer of Dairylide Yellow is really amping up the overall colour!
Brown detail done
I pushed through the resistance (I didn’t feel like doing it but I made myself to do it anyway) and finished the fiddly last brown details! Enjoy the video!
