‘Bloom’ is Almost There

The final washes of paint went on today - Carbon Black, Dioxazine Purple and Cobalt Blue.

Work in progress diamond painting with a blue background

Now it’s time to ditch the reference images and go it alone.

But what do I do about this splot in the background? Perhaps that is where I could sign my name - but the position is too dominant so probably not. I might need to think of something creative to do with it with pencils.

There’s also the drips coming from the diamond:

I don’t mind the drips in the background from the background, but drips coming out of the diamond makes it appear to blend into the background.

There’s not really anything I can do about it now but it is something I need to be aware of for the next painting. I need to be careful not to overwork the background as this is a trap I fall into with many paintings.

Coming up tomorrow: Making the white bits ‘glow’ and some drawing to make the whole thing sing.
