Diamond a Day – November 2016

Coloured diamonds were in fashion this month in the Lucy Farmer studio. Read on for a sample of November 2016’s diamonds:

A diamond drawn every day. This month features coloured diamond drawings.

The Coloured Diamonds

After a month of black, white, and grey drawings in October, I decided I needed to get a bit of colour back into the studio.

So many coloured diamonds.

My new white “Liquitex Ink!” was the star medium of the month. I used it in nearly every painting for the highlights of the diamonds. The photo below shows the making of Brilliant Cut Diamond 11/11/16. I usually paint the highlights at the end, but with this painting I got them in early on.

Work in progress: painting a diamond in Lucy Farmer's studio.
