Gold chrome frame

The frame for the gold and diamond kangaroo. At first I thought it would be a brushed gold finish, but I’ve decided to make it chrome gold. That’s right, doing it the difficult way, but it’s going to look SO GOOD.

The frame will reflect the audience. It will only be a thin strip of gold plus the spikes, but it will be shiny enough that the audience sees movement in it as they move around the paining. Perhaps they will catch a glimpse of themselves, perhaps not.

The reflection in the frame moves, the reflection in the painting doesn’t.

Thoughts on how to do this:

  • Cut the frame pieces

  • Spray with chrome paint*

  • Assemble frame and painting

  • Pat on the back it’s finally finished.

*I was researching chrome spray paint before I discovered 3D modelling on the computer. I was going to make my reference images out of clay and them spray them gold, take a photo of the object with my reflection in it, then paint it.

I think the angle of the spikes will be 45 degrees. A lesser angle then 90 degrees looks far more menacing.
