Adding colour to the kangaroo

It’s hot here in sunny Melbourne so the paint is drying quick sticks! I wish I’d had time to do another layer, however one layer is better than no layers. Here’s today’s progress:

I began with a light wash of Permanent Green Light on the background. But I realised I wasn’t being bold enough. So I added more:

The brighter green looks heaps better!

I added touches of Permanent Green Light, Manganese Blue Hue and Naphthol Red Light to the kangaroo. These colours will be muted as more paint is applied over them to create the gold colour.

It’s hard to get a good photo of the painting because it’s so big!

I used Raw Umber and Paynes Grey in the diamond. I rarely mix colours on my palette but Raw Umber and Paynes Grey are the exception. The mix is great for shading.
